A Walk around Stražiště

This easy loop leads through the countryside around Bratřice, close to Stražiště. The summit is the highest point of the Pacovská pahorkatina, lending the walk a distinctive place in the local landscape even if your plans are pleasantly less ambitious than peak-bagging. Bratřice has changed names more than once over the centuries. Records mention Sonebnar in 1273 and Sunebrunne in 1410, while later German names included Bratschitz and Schönbrunn. It is a small historical detail, but it gives today’s quiet village a much longer story than its modest size might suggest. The route forms a straightforward loop and returns you to the Bratřice area. Along the way, stop at the marked photography point and take time to frame your own version of the surroundings. There is no prize for finishing before your camera has made up its mind.
