Before you climb

Ferrata grade · D

A protected climb, not an ordinary walk. Bring appropriate ferrata equipment, including a helmet, harness and energy-absorbing ferrata set, and know how to use it.

Check weather, closures, approach and descent with the local operator or route guide. This map is not a climbing topo or a guarantee of safety. Follow the marked direction; do not reverse a ferrata based on the map.

Keep your hands free while climbing. Use your phone only at a secure stopping place.

Eight rock towers, narrow ridges and a cable bridge make this grade D route above Erichhütte an endurance challenge. Approach via Hohe Scharte; after Hoher Kopf, allow for the descent or a pre-booked night at Matrashaus. The source gives 10–12 hours overall, about five climbing. Experienced climbers need a via ferrata set, harness and helmet; follow weather conditions and local signs, not GPS alone. Photography: Jirka Dolejší; Jiří Dolejší.
